Wendy and Jurgen's Contribution for Education in Chitral

Booni is situated 80 kilometer to the north of Chitral town and east of Kosht village. Visitors love to visit the fruit-laden trees apricot, mulberry, grapes, peaches and apple tree orchards for which it is famous. Ms Wendy Finet and Mr Jurgen Depicker, two Belgian friends of us, visited Booni back in October 1996, liked it and volunteered to teach in Pamir Public School, a private school in the village. They worked earnestly to develop the school in terms of introducing a culture of transparency and accountability within the system of education there. Their significant contribution was to replenish the school’s otherwise empty library with books [more than 4000] and to train and empower the students to manage the school library themselves. Untill then teachers managed the library! Please visit http://old.ibcsk.com/en/project.booni.htm to know about the Booni project in detail.

We must thank them for the committed work they've come up with for the betterment of the poor segment of the society in Kosht and other adjoining villages in Upper Chitral by providing cheaper but standard technical and technological education. Thank you Wendy and Jurgen!

You have taken so much efforts for the promotion of pro-poor education in northern Chitral. But it is so sorry that such a noble work has still remained unappreciated in the given society for such a long time. The only thing that further moves us into action more vibrantly is mere appreciation of good things that we undertake in life. Hope we will be successful in realising the noble objective for which IBCSK has been established.
