Cuckoo—A Bolt from the Blue

This bird perching and singing atop the magnificent chinar tree has been spotted for the first time. Never before has any body noticed the present of cuckoo in the Chitral district. This shows that birds keep on migrating from their original habitat to other places which they find more suitable as habitat. It must be noted that many of the traditional birds of Chitral e.g. black-throated thrush and a variety of tits have already disappeared. They might have migrated to other places the way cuckoo has migrated to Chitral. Certainly it is nice to hear cuckoo singing so beautifully, yet at the same time, as a case study, it is a point of concerns that the innocent birds are migrating to other safe habitat owing to either global warming or potential disturbance in their food chain. What a pity!
