Birds Need Our Help!

Birds are nature's beauty. They have postive role to play in the ecosystem of our universe. For our own well-being, we have to protect birds and the rest of the living organism. It is unfortunate that most of the bird species are about to disappear because of pesticides or merciless hunting that has already had negative impacts on our ecology and natural biodiversity. What about the caterpillars that have been destroying hawthrone and apple trees for the last more than fifteen years?

Mastuj Road is Washed Away at Shogram in Upper Chitral

The Chitral district is experiencing history’s worst flooding because of unending series of torrential rain and breaking of glaciers that has been causing high flood in the Chitral River and greatly damaged the basic life amenities such as water pipeline, electricity lines and channels and telephone connections. Two days ago the water supply line to Chitral town had been reconstructed at Angarghoon but was swept again by another flood after a day of its restoration. This has left Chitral town without water for the last 10 days.

The Mother of Love

As innocent as dove
You the mother of love
Contended is thy face
Lenient is thy phrase
Nothing is above
you, the mother of love
Your mild scolding
And gentle holding
Of my hands in the glove
You the mother of love
That elegant peaked cap
And warmth of lap
Complements and bravo
You the mother of love
Dedication: These stanzas are dedicated to my beloved mother and many more like her in the mountains of Chitral.

Booni—the Day the Glacier Broke

Booni is a village 80 kilometers to the north of Chitral town. Just like the rest of the villages in the Hindu Kush region, Booni is also a fan-shaped landmass formed by glacial deposit at the mouth of what is called ‘Booni Gol’ or the stream of Booni, which cultivates the tracts of crops, vegetable, fruit bearing trees of apples, pear and grape and so on.
