Yaks, grazing peacefully, away from everything...

Yaks are common in the high pastures. Around Shandur pass people rear them, and plenty of them can be seen along the road. They carry loads, give a very tasty milk and their meat and skins are used as well.

Camels? Yes,...not the most familiar animal in the region but we do see some from time to time.

One of the 39 bridges over the Gilgit & Ghizar river

We were quite impressed by the sight of those magnificent bridges built over the rivers in the entire valley: they are strong, durable and beautiful! Farid, our science teacher made a point of counting each one we encountered: 39... only on our road!
